A very fine copy on Japon, in an elegant lined binding by Lemaître, containing an additional state of Robaudi's illustrations and enriched with 2 L.A.S. (from Eugène Lemaître and Marie Brisson) and an original colour drawing by Robaudi. Paris, L. Carteret et Cie, 1902. In-4 (180x260 mm), light green morocco, boards decorated with a framing composed of a listel and a vegetal composition in fir green morocco, spine with 4 faux-nerfs decorated in the same way, double cold fillet on the edges, olive green morocco lining set with two thin green morocco listels and framed with a wider listel, signature "Eug. Aumaître" in the leather, brocaded silk endpapers with multicoloured floral decoration, double endpapers, gilt head on witnesses, covers (the first illustrated) and spine preserved, bordered slipcase, green half cloth slipcase (Eugène Aumaître). 286 pages and 2 ff.n.ch. (subscription form), 36 compositions by Robaudi engraved with burin and etching by Henri Manesse, placed on the cover, header, in the text and in culs-de-lampe. Slight rubbing to edges and nerves, light foxing to gutter edge. Charming edition illustrated with 36 fine compositions by the painter and illustrator Alcide Théophile Robaudi (1847-1928), including one on the cover and 35 in the text, engraved with burin and etching by Henri Manesse. Limited edition of 300 copies, this one of 150 choice copies on Japon or Vélin du Marin, this one No. 100 on Japon, containing a state of the plates on Japon. A precious copy enriched with: - a handwritten autograph note (1 page in-8) signed by the bookbinder Eugène Lemaître and dated 28 April 1914, stating that "the decoration in monochrome border faux mosaic, executed on the volume "La Femme de Trente Ans" belonging to Monsieur le Commandant Herrery, is entirely done with the point by pressure, without the use of any engraved irons. A process created by the author who executed it". - a L.A.S. from the bookbinder Marie Brisson (1 page in-8) mentioning a small original drawing by Robaudi "pour la Femme de dix ans". - the original drawing in question, enhanced with watercolours, depicting a young girl playing the piano. - the subscription form illustrated with 2 etchings (2 ff. bound end-to-end).
