Description
Parchment, September 1715 – a letter of remission and pardon, a codified document granted by the King and sealed by the Chancellery, authorising the discontinuance of any legal proceedings against a criminal (or for a misdemeanour) by means of a letter patent. Signed by the Duke of Orléans, Regent (as Louis XV was only 5 years old). Location: the commune of Le Détroit (Calvados). The valet of the Lord of Kerville, Lafosse, intervened to prevent César and Antoine Delalande from hunting; speaking in a threatening tone, the argument escalated and Lafosse was accidentally struck by a gunshot, which killed him.
