Miss Elisa Appolina DEHARME (Paris, 1809 - Amboise, 1871) Portrait of a woman wearing English hair, in a black dress, both hands visible holding a rose, seated three-quarter left against a background of greenery, circa 1840. Large miniature on ivory, signed on the right in red "Mlle Deharme". Oval with view: 13.6 x 10.4 cm Beautiful oval frame in bronze and gilt brass. Provenance : sale Collection of about 150 miniatures, Jean-Marc Delvaux, Drouot, 7 December 1998 n°11, "Elisa Appolina Deharme (c. 1805 - ?), portrait d'une jeune fille en noir tenant une rose, 13,7 x 10,5 cm", sold for 11,000 francs. Collection of M. X., Paris Bibl: La Lettre de la miniature, n° 89, May-June 2026, miniature reproduced in the article devoted to Mlle Deharme establishing her dates. Mlle Deharme exhibited numerous miniatures at the Paris Salon from 1834 to 1868, including portraits of Napoleon III and Eugénie, and worked for the Rothschild family among others. His works are rare, and this is the largest known to date. Combining good drawing with pleasant colours, this artist is represented at the National Museum in Warsaw by the portrait of her master Nicolas Jacques, and at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Buenos Aires.
