Mlle Deharme exhibited numerous miniatures at the Paris Salon from 1834 to 1868, including portraits of Napoleon III and Eugénie, and worked for the Rothschild family among others. His works are rare, and this is the largest known to date. Combining good drawing with pleasant colours, this artist is represented at the National Museum in Warsaw by the portrait of her master Nicolas Jacques, and at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Buenos Aires.
