The file and additional photos of each vehicle are available at the following drive link (after requesting access): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lGJ4wjEQFbPZQt2r2CTdicpUI9SYtqUK?usp=share_link Introduced in 1990, the Volkswagen Golf GTI G60 represented the technical culmination of the Golf II and one of the most sophisticated versions of the Wolfsburg sports compact. Developed against a backdrop of increased competition from French and Italian production in the late 1980s, it adopted a mechanical solution that was rare at the time: the volumetric 'G' compressor, named after the spiral shape of its rotor. Combined with the famous 1.8-litre 8-valve four-cylinder engine, this system enabled the Golf G60 to develop 160 bhp and, above all, a particularly generous amount of torque, offering high levels of acceleration and great availability at all engine speeds, without the response time characteristic of the turbocharged engines of the time. To harness this power, the G60 has a stronger transmission, a sharper chassis with lowered suspension, larger brakes with ventilated discs at the front and ABS as standard, as well as the EDS electronic traction control system, the precursor of Volkswagen's modern traction aids. All this while weighing in at just over a tonne. More discreet than an exotic sports car, the G60 cultivates a typically German elegance. Its distinctive styling includes wraparound fascias, widened wing extensions, a red-rimmed grille incorporating additional headlamps and 15-inch BBS wheels. The equipment package is also particularly comprehensive for its time, with ABS, hydraulic power steering, trip computer, central locking and electric front windows with green-tinted glass as standard. This package could also be enhanced by a number of optional extras to add to the chic, bourgeois feel of this sporty compact. Produced over a relatively short period, the Golf GTI G60 occupies a singular place in the history of modern GTIs. More exclusive than a GTI 16S and technically different from contemporary turbocharged sports cars, it appeals to collectors for its atypical mechanical character, its versatility and its preserved authenticity. A direct descendant of Volkswagen's experiments with supercharging, it remains one of the most desirable Golf IIs on the youngtimers market. The Golf GTI on show is a much sought-after G60 version, with a 5-door body. It was delivered by the Automobiles Paris Défense dealership in Puteaux to its first owner, who still owns it today, in October 1990, and was immediately put on the road. It comes in an elegant, sober Royal Blue metallic configuration with blue leather interior and black carpet, combined with beautiful 15-inch BBS wheels. It also boasts a number of interesting options, including a sunroof, leather upholstery, a sports steering wheel and folding rear seats. This Golf GTI G60 was ordered new by its current owner, who initially bought it through his leasing company before taking it back personally. This is all the more true given that it has always been regularly used and maintained, as can be seen from the extensive file that accompanies it. Today, the car is in very good condition, with just 206,550 km on the clock, and most of the paintwork is original. The timing gear was last replaced in 2020 as part of a general overhaul, and the exhaust was also changed in 2021. This Golf GTI G60 is also perfectly documented, since in addition to the thick file of invoices, the multiple expert reports carried out over time and all the original documentation including the manuals and service booklet, it is sold with its original order form and a copy of the purchase invoice! Accessories and spare keys are also included. This is a rare opportunity that will satisfy even the most demanding of youngtimer collectors.
