Description
1967 E-Type Series 1 4.2L Chassis number: 1E33558 Engine number: 7E10378-9 French classic car registration document • Iconic model of the marque • Maintenance and restoration history • Elegant specification Unveiled in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type revolutionised the automotive world with its sculptural lines and class-leading performance. In 1964, the model reached maturity with the introduction of the 4.2-litre engine. Whilst power remained unchanged, torque increased significantly, and, crucially, the outdated Moss gearbox was replaced by a fully synchronised Jaguar gearbox, radically transforming the driving experience. This Jaguar E-Type, a coupé, has been owned by its current owner for two years. The car underwent a thorough restoration in 2020, representing an investment of over €100,000. The work covered both the exterior and the mechanics, including bodywork repairs followed by repainting, replacement of the upholstery, and an upgrade of the mechanical components. The engine was thus fitted with a new rear oil seal, a balanced crankshaft pulley, electronic ignition and a stainless steel exhaust system fitted with ‘Big Bore’ manifolds. To improve overall reliability, the car was also fitted with a reinforced alternator, a fan and a larger-capacity radiator. The braking system has been upgraded with the fitting of 4-piston calipers, whilst power steering and a circuit breaker complete the modifications made to the car. With matching numbers for its engine, this E-Type retains its original carburettors. The original gearbox (to be collected in Bordeaux) has, however, been replaced by a five-speed manual gearbox. The engine is also fitted with ‘Road’ specification camshafts, which differ from those fitted as standard. The car now features an elegant colour scheme combining a British Racing Green body with a Melbourne Express leather interior. In 2024, a new restoration project, costing around €14,000, was carried out. This included resurfacing the cylinder head gasket surfaces, replacing the valves and a complete replacement of the piston rings. At the same time, the ignition coils, spark plugs, master brake cylinder and clutch were also replaced. The engine and gearbox oils were changed approximately one year ago. All work is documented in a comprehensive file of invoices, allowing for a precise record of the restoration, reliability improvements and maintenance carried out over the years. Featuring a combination of British Racing Green livery and a brown leather interior, this example has been fully restored. Accompanied by a comprehensive file, this E-Type has been enhanced with taste and respect for the legend. 1967 E-Type Series 1 4.2L Chassis Number: 1E33558 Engine Number: 7E10378-9 French Collector’s Registration Certificate • Iconic model of the brand • Maintenance and restoration records • Elegant configuration Unveiled in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type revolutionised the automotive world with its sculptural lines and top-tier performance.
