Dévoilée en 1961, la Jaguar Type E a révolutionné le monde de l'automobile par sa ligne sculpturale et ses performances de premier plan. En 1964, le modèle arrive à maturité avec l'introduction du moteur 4.2 litres. Si la puissance reste identique, le couple augmente considérablement, et surtout, la vétuste boîte Moss est remplacée par une boîte Jaguar entièrement synchronisée, transformant radicalement l'agrément de conduite.
Cette Jaguar Type E, un coupé, est détenue par son propriétaire actuel depuis deux ans. L’exemplaire a bénéficié d'une restauration approfondie en 2020, représentant un investissement supérieur à 100 000 €. Les travaux ont porté aussi bien sur la présentation que sur la mécanique, avec notamment une réfection de la carrosserie suivie d'une peinture, le remplacement de la sellerie, ainsi qu'une mise à niveau des organes mécaniques. Le moteur a ainsi reçu un nouveau joint spi arrière, une poulie de vilebrequin équilibrée, un allumage électronique et une ligne d'échappement inox équipée de collecteurs « Big Bore ». Afin d'améliorer la fiabilité de l'ensemble, l'automobile a également été dotée d'un alternateur renforcé, d'un ventilateur et d'un radiateur à capacité accrue. Le freinage a été modernisé par l'installation d'étriers 4 pistons, tandis qu'une direction assistée et un coupe-circuit viennent compléter les évolutions apportées à l'auto.
Matching Numbers pour son moteur, cette Type E conserve ses carburateurs d'origine. La boîte de vitesses d'origine (à récupérer sur Bordeaux) a toutefois laissé place à une boîte manuelle à cinq rapports. Le moteur est par ailleurs équipé d'arbres à cames de spécification « Road », différents de ceux montés en sortie d'usine.
La voiture se présente aujourd'hui dans une élégante combinaison de teintes associant une carrosserie British Racing Green à un intérieur en cuir Melbourne Express. En 2024, une nouvelle campagne de travaux, pour un montant proche de 14 000 €, a été réalisée. Celle-ci comprenait notamment le resurfaçage des plans de joint de culasse, le remplacement des soupapes ainsi que le remplacement complet des segments. À la même période, les bobines d'allumage, les bougies, le maître-cylindre de frein et l'embrayage ont également été remplacés.
Les vidanges moteur et boîte de vitesses ont été effectuées il y a environ un an. L'ensemble des interventions est documenté par un important dossier de factures, permettant de retracer avec précision les travaux de restauration, de fiabilisation et d'entretien réalisés au fil des années.
Bénéficiant d'une configuration associant une livrée British Racing Green à un habitacle en cuir marron, cet exemplaire a été intégralement restauré. Accompagnée d'un dossier important, cette Type E a été améliorée avec gouts et respect envers le mythe.

Unveiled in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type revolutionized the automotive world with its sculptural lines and top-tier performance. In 1964, the model reached maturity with the introduction of the 4.2-liter engine. While power remained the same, torque increased significantly, and most importantly, the outdated Moss gearbox was replaced by a fully synchronized Jaguar transmission, radically transforming the driving experience.
This Jaguar E-Type, a coupe, has been owned by its current owner for two years. The car underwent a thorough restoration in 2020, representing an investment of over €100,000. The work focused on both the exterior and the mechanics, including bodywork repair followed by repainting, replacement of the upholstery, and an upgrade of the mechanical components. The engine was thus fitted with a new rear oil seal, a balanced crankshaft pulley, electronic ignition, and a stainless steel exhaust system equipped with “Big Bore” headers. To improve overall reliability, the car was also equipped with a reinforced alternator, a fan, and a high-capacity radiator. The braking system has been modernized with the installation of 4-piston calipers, while power steering and a circuit breaker round out the upgrades made to the car.
With matching numbers for its engine, this E-Type retains its original carburetors. The original transmission (to be picked up in Bordeaux) has, however, been replaced with a five-speed manual transmission. The engine is also equipped with “Road” specification camshafts, different from those fitted at the factory.
The car now features an elegant color combination pairing a British Racing Green body with a Melbourne Express leather interior. In 2024, a new round of work, costing nearly €14,000, was carried out. This included resurfacing the cylinder head gasket surfaces, replacing the valves, and a complete replacement of the piston rings. At the same time, the ignition coils, spark plugs, master brake cylinder, and clutch were also replaced.
The engine and transmission fluids were changed approximately one year ago. All work is documented by a comprehensive file of invoices, allowing for a precise record of the restoration, reliability upgrades, and maintenance performed over the years.
Featuring a British Racing Green exterior paired with a brown leather interior, this example has been fully restored. Accompanied by a comprehensive file, this E-Type has been upgraded with taste and respect for the legend.
