Description
1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Drophead Coupé Mulliner No reserve • Chassis CRH3605 • French registration document - Forerunner of the Corniche line - Bodywork by Mulliner Park Ward - Sought-after first version fitted with the Rolls-Royce Hydra-Matic 4-speed gearbox The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow represents a major turning point in the British brand’s history, introducing a resolutely modern approach to automotive luxury whilst retaining the traditional DNA of refinement and mechanical silence characteristic of Rolls-Royce. The example presented here, dating from 1968, stands out for its rare Drophead Coupé configuration, the result of the prestigious conversions carried out by Mulliner Park Ward, as Rolls-Royce did not officially offer a convertible version as standard production at that time. Under the bonnet lies the famous 6.2-litre aluminium V8 engine, paired with an automatic gearbox, offering a smooth, fluid and commanding drive, true to the brand’s philosophy. In 2003, a major restoration was carried out by Jacques Savoye Automobiles at a cost of over €28,000, covering the front suspension, shock absorbers, braking system and fuel system. In the 2000s, the woodwork and soft top were refurbished (see photo file). The vehicle joined its current owner’s collection in 2020. In July 2022, the window regulators were replaced. The MOT carried out in May 2026 was passed; however, it should be noted that the neutral sensor is occasionally temperamental and there is a leak in the exhaust system. This example has been regularly maintained and is in good overall condition. This Silver Shadow Drophead Coupé by Mulliner Park Ward represents a milestone in the history of the brand’s convertibles, preserved here in its original British right-hand drive configuration. Having been maintained by specialists and with a valid MOT, it presents an opportunity to acquire a prestigious, roadworthy car, predating the introduction of the Corniche name. 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Drophead Coupé Mulliner • Chassis CRH3605 • French registration certificate - Forerunner of the Corniche line - Bodywork by Mulliner Park Ward - Sought-after first version equipped with the Rolls-Royce Hydra-Matic 4-speed transmission The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow represents a major turning point in the history of the British brand, introducing a resolutely modern approach to automotive luxury whilst preserving the traditional DNA of refinement and mechanical silence unique to Rolls-Royce.
