1979 FERRARI 512 BB
Chassis number 29377
Sought-after carburettor version
Originally delivered new in France
Rare original condition
French classic car registration document
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1976, the Ferrari 512 BB succeeded the 365 GT4 BB, building on its technical and aerodynamic architecture. Its commercial name refers to its 5.0-litre displacement and its flat-12 engine layout (a 180° block inherited from the Formula 1 single-seaters of the Niki Lauda era), whilst the ‘BB’ designation refers to the Berlinetta Boxer lineage. Positioned in a central-rear location above the gearbox to re-centre the mass, this engine, powered by four triple-barrel Weber carburettors, developed 360 horsepower, enabling the coupé to reach a theoretical top speed of close to 300 km/h. This carburettor-equipped version preceded the introduction of electronic fuel injection on the BBi models from 1981 onwards.
This French-registered example was first registered on 22 November 1979. Featuring the classic Rosso Corsa livery combined with a black leather interior, its history traces four owners since new. In 2003, the car was sold at an auction held by Osenat and entered the Bonneron collection, where it was kept in its original condition until 2020. It was at this time that its current owner acquired it at one of our sales.
Immediately after purchase, the collector entrusted the car to Provost workshops in Le Mans for a complete mechanical restoration. Following this work, the vehicle was used regularly. In 2026, a service was carried out once again at Provost.
The car stands out for the preservation of its original features. The bodywork retains its factory paintwork, displaying a period patina, as do the upholstery and interior trim. All the features specific to its launch on the French market are present, such as the front parking lights under white (rather than orange) plexiglass, as well as the main headlights and fog lights with yellow lenses. The car comes with its factory tool kit (almost complete). A test drive confirmed the smooth running of the 12-cylinder engine and the distinctive character of the carburettor version.
This 1979 Ferrari 512 BB represents a rare opportunity to acquire a French-spec carburettor version, having had only four previous owners. Distinguished by its original, never-restored paintwork and well-preserved interior, it has undergone rigorous mechanical maintenance by the Provost workshops in Le Mans, including a full service completed in 2026.
