Known history, original Marrone Colorado!
Known history, original Marrone Colorado!
- At the 1967 Paris Motor Show, the Prancing Horse presented the replacement for the 330 GT 2+2. The newcomer, whose styling was inspired by the sumptuous 500 Superfast, was still powered by the Colombo V12, but with an extra 4.4 litres and 320 bhp. The new model also brings major advances in comfort: independent suspension, Koni shock absorbers at the rear, and the addition of silent-blocks to the engine and gearbox mounts to isolate the four passengers from the turbulence!
- Our example was delivered new by Auto Becker in Germany in this very elegant Marrone Colorado colour combination with a Nero leather interior. It was then registered KKV2, and arrived in March 1972 in the hands of French driver Jean Pons, known for his exploits in Osca, Marcadier and Porsche 356. It was soon decided to change the colour of the 2+2 family car: first to Oro Chiaro, then to Azzurro Metallizzato.
- In 2010, the car passed from the driver's family to the Estates Department, before being auctioned off at the end of the year. A few months later, the car was put back on the road by the Atelier Automobile in Lyon, before being driven back to the Paris region. A few years later, the current owner decided to offer a complete restoration of the engine by the experts at Toni Auto, and a full repaint in the original colour by Carrozzeria Cristallo. Invoices and photos of this work are available on request.
- Today, the car is in a very good state of preservation. The work carried out by Carrozzeria Cristallo is of excellent quality, and blends perfectly with the original Nero leather upholstery (the passenger seat has been replaced, although the original one has been retained). Our road test also showed us that the car ran very well, and that its performance was - even today - first-rate! Please also note that an oil change will be carried out just before the sale.
- Often overlooked, the 365 GT 2+2 offers a unique driving experience compared to its siblings and competitors: the 4.4-litre Colombo augmrnté is a delight, and the gearbox and suspension system combine to give the car the comfort of a modern car. The colour scheme of our example makes it even more interesting, and will accompany the next owner in style!
