The MGC GT is now one of the most sought-after British GTs of the 1960s amongst discerning collectors. Its rarity (fewer than 4,500 coupés produced worldwide), its timeless Pininfarina design and the steady rise in value of British roadsters make it as much a heritage investment as a passion project. Our example has undergone a superb mechanical and interior restoration, giving it a high-quality finish both inside and out. Accompanied by an excellent file of invoices A few key points about this model are worth highlighting to fully understand its collectable value: Only 4,458 MGC GTs were produced, making it a rarer car than it might appear, with styling by Pininfarina. Its major asset remains its torquey engine, thanks to its long stroke; it is smooth and inexhaustible at 130 km/h in overdrive — a sound distinct from the deep hum of the MGB’s four-cylinder engine, fuller, more charming, even mesmerising. Its assertive character was also evident in competition, in road races such as the Targa Florio or the 12 Hours of Sebring, finishing behind the inevitable Porsches. The formation of British Leyland and the introduction of the Triumph TR6 brought its career to a premature end in 1969, after just two years of production — which makes it all the more desirable today.
