THE ENGINE: THE M20B25 SIX-CYLINDRE
The 325iX is fitted with a front-mounted, longitudinally positioned, naturally aspirated inline six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2,494 cm³.
This is one of the most highly regarded engines in BMW’s history: smooth, linear and with an almost musical revving character.
It produces 170 ch (DIN), making it a particularly dynamic saloon for its time.
ALL-WHEEL DRIVE: THE iX’S UNIQUE ADVANTAGE
This is where the 325iX differs radically from the standard 325i. It features permanent all-wheel drive, combined with a limited-slip differential and a 5-speed manual gearbox.
All other E30 variants are rear-wheel drive: the 325iX is the only one to benefit from permanent four-wheel drive. This configuration gives it exceptional traction, particularly on slippery, wet or snow-covered surfaces, whilst retaining BMW’s signature sporty character.
PERFORMANCE
The power-to-weight ratio is 8.4 kg/ch, or 120 ch per tonne. These are impressive figures for a 1980s saloon, translating into genuine driving pleasure.
Ventilated disc brakes at the front (260 mm) and solid discs at the rear (258 mm) ensure effective, durable and perfectly balanced braking.
THE BACKGROUND AND VALUE OF THIS EXAMPLE
Our example, fully restored and with just 49,900 km on the clock, is an absolutely exceptional find.
The 325iX was produced in significantly smaller numbers than the standard 325i, making it a model that is now particularly sought after by collectors.
The car has a partially completed service history book and a consistent mileage record.
The paintwork has been completely repainted and the entire mechanical system has undergone a full overhaul, ensuring a remarkable standard of presentation and performance.
AN ICON ALREADY A COLLECTOR’S ITEM
Rare, authentic and featuring technology unique within the E30 range, this BMW 325iX is now much more than just a sports saloon: it is a genuine collector’s item, whose historical significance and heritage value continue to grow.
