History:
This small torpedo-style car is quite rare in convertible form, as it was originally developed as a two-door coach version; this version was a common sight on the roads of pre-war England. Being very small, it weaved its way – just as its designers intended – through a road and urban network that was underdeveloped in terms of proper infrastructure. It was the forerunner of what Mini and Morris would achieve with the Mini many years later. Its 918-series UB engine, producing 23 chevaux, was capable of carrying four people in the coach version. In the convertible version, there is room for two people of average height. This version was called the Tourer, and to promote the model, it was featured in a brochure with photographs of seaside landscapes.
Condition:
A fairly basic dashboard, but equipped with the essentials in terms of gauges and a speedometer. It is fitted with its original spoked wheels, spare wheel and lighting system; compliant with road traffic regulations, it has front wing indicators and rear wing indicator repeaters. The soft top is in very good condition, as is its frame. It should be noted that the car was restored some time ago and that its overall condition is entirely satisfactory. It is, of course, a right-hand-drive car, and its first destination after leaving the factory was the Netherlands. It is eligible for many pre-war rallies and British cross-country events.
