The vehicle is in reasonably good overall condition and needs to be restored to running order.
When it was launched in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation. Its iconic styling left a lasting impression, and Enzo Ferrari himself declared it to be “the most beautiful car ever built”. Constantly refined, the Series 3, launched in 1971, represented the ultimate evolution of this legend. Under its long bonnet lies the all-new Jaguar V12 engine. A prestigious power unit offering both smoothness and power, capable of accelerating forcefully from idle right up to the redline at 6,500 revs. Comfortable and relatively agile, with light and precise steering, the E-Type V12 is a smooth yet fast sports car. And whilst the Italian cars of the era demanded a physical driving style and sophisticated mechanics, the Jaguar E-Type V12 is easy to drive.
Ivoire Troyes is delighted to present this 1975 Jaguar E-Type V12 Convertible. Whilst 80 per cent of the Series 3 V12 production was sold in the United States, this particular example is of French origin. Having been in the same ownership for over 30 years, this convertible is registered under a standard vehicle registration certificate. Having likely undergone an earlier restoration faithful to the original, it is now in fair overall condition. The bodywork and paintwork are in reasonably good overall condition, with a few visible imperfections that could be addressed to improve its appearance (notably across the bonnet (pitting) or the lower body panels (peeling). The underbody appears sound and shows no significant signs of corrosion or impact damage.
The entire mechanical assembly appears to be in good condition and should be considered as a project to get the car back on the road before you can enjoy the infinite power of the V12. Having been regularly serviced prior to this period of inactivity, with the suspension, running gear and silent blocks in decent condition, getting it back on the road should not pose any problems. Paired with the 4-speed manual gearbox, this rare and sought-after specification is the most effective way to extract the full potential from this engine.
Unlike most American-sourced examples, this well-maintained convertible has not spent its life in the sun and features an interior that is in a good state of preservation. The blue upholstery, the dashboard and the black Alpaca soft top are all in good condition.
Undervalued compared to the early E-Type series, the V12 convertible offers the experience of refined and exclusive engineering, at a purchase and running cost that is significantly more reasonable than that of its Italian rivals. An attractive proposition for savouring the heyday of British grand touring to your heart’s content.
