History:
From 1969, Peugeot continued its collaboration with Pininfarina to develop a 504 convertible. The platform was shortened by 19 cm and technical details such as the departure and approach angles were improved to give the entire bodywork a more fluid appearance. A dashboard design distinct from that of the saloons was created, and the whole design was refined in line with the car’s evolution. Several restylings took place between 1974 and 1980, culminating in 1983. This highly successful car was available with a range of engines, which evolved over the course of its production run, progressing from a 1,800 cc engine producing 97 chevaux to a 2,700 cm³ V6 engine producing 144 chevaux. Gearboxes were also available ranging from a 4-speed manual to a 3-speed automatic.
Condition:
This fine car is one of the first genuine carburetted V6s; it has been well maintained and repainted in its original Amarillys Red Metallic colour. All the stamped serial numbers are visible in the engine compartment. The car has therefore been partially dismantled for a complete overhaul. The soft top has no tears, and the rear section where the rear window is located shows no signs of sun damage and is completely transparent. This is a sign that care was taken when folding the soft top. The interior is clean; however, the front upholstery does not match the model, as these are Recaro seats taken from another vehicle. The rear bench seat is original. The underside of the car has been treated against rust with a coat of black paint or anti-gravel coating. The car is complete and there are no major defects visible to the naked eye. This car will need new tyres for regular use; the current ones are about twenty years old but are not worn. There are few models like this one on the market that have been well looked after and maintained, having undergone a major restoration.
