Unveiled in 1985 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ferrari 328 represents the third generation of this line. A direct evolution of the 308 – which had broken stylistically with the first generation designed by Bertone, whilst retaining its mechanical basis on a shortened chassis in true Pininfarina style – the 328 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor. It continued to develop this mid-rear-mounted engine, whose displacement was increased by enlarging the bore and stroke, as well as by fitting improved pistons. The V8 thus reached 3,185 cm³, hence the designation ‘32’ for 3.2 litres, combined with the number ‘8’ corresponding to the number of cylinders. Fitted with larger oil coolers and a more efficient Marelli engine management system, it produces 270 chevaux, enabling a top speed of 263 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.3 seconds. To complement this performance, the suspension settings and braking system were revised, with the adoption of Koni spring/damper assemblies and wider 16-inch wheels to improve handling. Aesthetically, the 328 retains the elegant simplicity of the 308, whilst featuring more wraparound front and rear bumpers, a discreet roof spoiler, more perforated bonnets and five-spoke alloy wheels with a lighter design. Inside, whilst the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel remains unchanged, the cabin feels more modern thanks to a two-part centre console and redesigned upholstery. Taken together, these developments make the 328 a Ferrari that is at once beautiful, high-performing and relatively versatile, which explains its current status as the quintessential collectable Ferrari saloon. This status is reinforced by its commercial success: produced over a four-year period with 8,548 units across all versions, it was particularly popular in the GTS version, especially in the United States, which accounted for the bulk of the more than 6,000 open-top models produced. Today, the GTB coupé version, which is rarer with fewer than 1,350 units produced, appeals more for its exclusivity and purity, whilst the GTS Spyder version remains a safe bet, highly prized for the pleasure of open-top driving. The Ferrari 328 on offer is a highly sought-after GTS version with a removable roof, from the 1989 model year. As such, it benefits from the upgrades introduced towards the end of this model’s production run, including the addition of ABS, alongside optimised suspension geometry and new convex-design wheels. These improvements make the 1989 models the most refined in the 328 line-up and are now a key factor in their being particularly sought-after by collectors. Its colour scheme is the most iconic and coveted, featuring the Rosso Corsa paint finish paired with a black leather interior and matching carpet. This particular car also features specific fittings such as a stainless steel exhaust, wing badges and rare Schedoni chequered leather floor mat inserts. Registered in France by the official importer Charles Pozzi, then sold by the Garage Palace dealership in Cannes to its first owner, it was first registered on 16 May 1989. It was subsequently registered in Monaco and was probably resold by Cavallari to the previous owner, before the current owner acquired it in 2003 when it had just under 23,000 km on the clock. For nearly 23 years, the current owner has continued to look after it with the same care as his predecessors. He uses it sparingly and keeps it in ideal storage conditions the rest of the time, whilst ensuring it is thoroughly serviced at regular intervals. As a result, this 328 GTS now has a total of just 26,550 km on the clock and is in excellent original condition. Indeed, it is extremely rare to find a Ferrari 328 in such remarkable condition, let alone a GTS version with its original paintwork! In addition to this state of preservation, which is of particular interest to the most discerning collectors and investors, it is also worth noting that the car underwent a major overhaul in February 2026. This included the replacement of the timing belts, brake pads, tyres and battery, as well as a standard service and various maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance. The most recent MOT, carried out in March 2026, is clear of any faults. Our test drive of the car, undertaken both during the day and at night, proved entirely satisfactory, revealing the sheer driving pleasure provided by the running gear of a car with low mileage that has nevertheless been well maintained. The service history file comprises maintenance invoices, all five MOTs carried out since 2003 and a 2002 valuation report. The owner’s manuals, including those for the Alpine Pioneer car radio, and the original service booklet in their leather pouch complete the set. The tool kit (branded), the jack, the space-saver spare wheel, spare keys and a car cover round off the package. This Ferrari 328 GTS therefore truly ticks all the boxes to appeal to enthusiasts of the marque. It is undoubtedly one of the finest and most interesting examples currently available on the market, representing an iconic model from the world’s most fascinating car manufacturer: a sure-fire collector’s item.
