1966 EXCALIBUR SSK ROADSTER – History: Unveiled in 1964, the Excalibur was the brainchild of Brooks Stevens, the renowned American designer, who sought to pay homage to the prestigious Mercedes-Benz SSKs of the 1920s whilst combining them with modern, reliable engineering. Produced in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Excalibur Automobiles Inc., these so-called ‘neo-classic’ cars quickly became a huge success, particularly in the United States where they appealed to a clientele seeking exclusivity. Handcrafted on a General Motors chassis, the Excaliburs are distinguished by their long vertical grille, separate wings, side exhausts and luxurious interior. Production remained relatively limited, making these models highly sought-after classic cars today. Description: The car on offer is an Excalibur, accompanied by its Belgian registration certificate. The bodywork is complete and retains all its main characteristic features. The paintwork shows significant signs of wear and tear, as well as numerous defects caused by ageing and prolonged storage.
