La Panhard Scarlette occupe une place singulière dans l'histoire de l'automobile française. Fruit d'une collaboration inattendue entre Panhard et Rosengart, elle associe la carrosserie de la Rosengart Ariette à la mécanique éprouvée de la Dyna X. Présentée en 1953 afin d'écouler les stocks d'Ariette restés invendus, la Scarlette ne sera produite que durant quelques mois avant de disparaître discrètement du catalogue de la marque. Avec seulement 208 exemplaires assemblés, elle constitue aujourd'hui l'un des modèles les plus rares et les plus méconnus de la production Panhard d'après-guerre.
L'exemplaire que nous présentons, portant le numéro de série 490074, fut immatriculé pour la première fois en 1953. Il témoigne d'une période charnière de l'industrie automobile française, à l'heure où les constructeurs cherchaient à rationaliser leur production dans un contexte économique encore marqué par l'après-guerre. Dotée de la mécanique bicylindre Panhard, réputée pour sa légèreté, sa sobriété et son efficacité, la Scarlette offre aujourd'hui un témoignage rare de l'ingéniosité technique française des années 1950. Cette Scarlett se présente dans une teinte Prune Quetsche.
La voiture a été acquise par son propriétaire actuel en 1991. Quelques photos anciennes montrant la voiture dans un très bel état sont disponibles. Le véhicule présente aujourd'hui une patine marquée par les effets du temps ; le moteur tourne et la voiture fonctionne. Issue d’une succession elle n’a pas circulée depuis plusieurs années et sera à remettre en état général.
Rare témoin de l'ingéniosité automobile française des années 1950, cette Scarlette représente l'opportunité d'acquérir l'un des modèles les plus confidentiels de l'histoire de Panhard.

The Panhard Scarlette holds a unique place in the history of the French automobile. The result of an unexpected collaboration between Panhard and Rosengart, it combines the bodywork of the Rosengart Ariette with the proven mechanics of the Dyna X. Introduced in 1953 to clear out unsold Ariette inventory, the Scarlette was produced for only a few months before quietly disappearing from the brand’s catalog. With only 208 units assembled, it is today one of the rarest and least known models in Panhard’s post-war production.
The example we are presenting, bearing serial number 490074, was first registered in 1953. It bears witness to a pivotal period in the French automotive industry, at a time when manufacturers were seeking to streamline their production in an economic climate still marked by the post-war era. Equipped with the Panhard twin-cylinder engine, renowned for its lightness, fuel efficiency, and performance, the Scarlette today offers a rare testament to French technical ingenuity of the 1950s. This Scarlette is finished in Prune Quetsche.
The car was acquired by its current owner in 1991. A few old photos showing the car in excellent condition are available. The vehicle now bears a patina marked by the effects of time; the engine runs and the car is operational. Having come from an estate, it has not been driven for several years and will require a general restoration.
A rare example of French automotive ingenuity from the 1950s, this Scarlette offers the opportunity to acquire one of the rarest models in Panhard’s history.
