Description
A Chinese porcelain famille rose "lady" statue mounted table lamp. This lamp made from a converted porcelain lady statue from the 18th or 19th Century, with a european ormolu (gilded bronze) mount added to the base. The combination of an antique porcelain with ornate bronze mounts was a common practice in 19th Century France, particularly during the louis xv and louis xvi revival periods. Many such lamps and decorative objects were assembled in the late 19th or early 20th Century, catering to the european taste for exotic and luxurious furnishings. 18/19th Century. H : 38cm (including lampshade).
