A frame of Japanese ‘lady’ woodblock print (ukiyo-e)
Depicting a noble Heian-period woman seated in a formal kneeling posture. She has long straight black hair and pale, stylized facial features typical of classical Japanese court portraiture. She wears layered juni-hitoe court robes: soft off-white outer kimono sleeves with subtle woven patterns, lined with vibrant scarlet red fabric. A dark charcoal-grey lower garment is tied around her waist.
19/20th century. L:51x35cm.
