BOYER, HEYL & Cie (then Frédéric Heyl & Cie). Archives of this firm of confectioners of olives, capers and black truffles, etc., based in Gignac, between Montpellier and Lodève (Hérault department). 1860-1920. Extensive business correspondence, consisting of more than two thousand letters, telegrams, delivery notes, invoices, shipping receipts and various accounts, relating to the company's activities: confiscation of olives and capers, manufacture of raw materials for the perfume industry (essences) and the chemical industry (verdets, or copper acetates and cream of tartar used in the preparation of tartaric acid), prospectuses, etc. Communication of prices, dispatch of samples, quotations, possibly accompanied by shipments.
Boyer, Heyl & Cie (then Frédéric Heyl & Cie) obtained its supplies from various suppliers, most of whom were located in the Basses-Alpes, Drôme and Aveyron regions. It marketed products in France and Europe (Great Britain, Denmark, Germany) and had a subsidiary in Hamburg and one in New York, as well as a counter in Argentina, etc. Boyer won a number of awards at agricultural and regional competitions, including a gold medal at the 1867 Universal Exhibition in Paris. Shortly afterwards, its commercial letterhead bore the words "Fournisseur de S.M. l'Empereur".
