[TRUFFES]. BOYER, HEYL & Cie (then Frédéric Heyl & Cie). Archives of this firm of confectioners of olives, capers and black truffles, etc., based in Gignac, between Montpellier and Lodève (Hérault department). Set of 690 letters and documents from 1856 to 1920 concerning the truffle trade, sorted and filed in 6 folders with paper flaps in 4 cloth-covered cases lined with imitation walnut paper, title labels printed on the spine of each folder, dates stamped at the foot of the spines.
- 141 documents and letters from the Maison Martin Ravel, Louis Monges successeurs, Commerce de Truffes sèches, fraîches et en conserves en boîtes & en bouteilles, founded in 1818, addressed to Boyer and Heyl. 1866-1905. Extraordinary correspondence from Louis MONGES. Martin Ravel, a truffle supplier, was based in Montagnac near Riez in the Basses-Alpes. Correspondence full of details about production, prices, transport, etc. Louis Monges was not stingy with details and his letters are packed with information.

a). 12 letters from Maison Bonfils in Carpentras. In-4 letters and documents, sometimes with illustrated letterheads. - More than 50 in-4 letters or documents from the Maison Baudoin, with some illustrated headers.
b). 100 handwritten letters and documents in various formats addressed to Maison Heyl by various researchers in Aveyron (Millau, Nant, Villefranche, Saint-Jean-de-Bueges). 1860-1891.

a). 125 documents, mostly bills of lading, partly printed, with detailed descriptions of the goods transported - mainly truffles. They are all illustrated with very pretty vignettes, mostly depicting sailing ships. A few letters from carriages are attached. 1856-1881.
b). More than 80 telegrams, delivery notes, various accounts and a few handwritten cardboard labels which were attached to baskets of truffles and sent by car to the addressee Frederic Heyl. 1858-1907.
Based in Gignac, between Montpellier and Lodève, Boyer obtained its supplies from various suppliers, mostly in the Basses-Alpes, Drome and Aveyron regions. It sold its products throughout France and Europe. Boyer won a gold medal at the 1867 Universal Exhibition. Shortly afterwards, its commercial letterhead read Supplier to H.M. the Emperor.
