Description
ACADÉMIE DES PSYCHOLOGUES DU GOÛT (L') Founded by Curnonsky, "Prince des Gastronomes". Set of 68 menus, 4 pp. in-4, illustrated by artist-engravers. Dinners 39 [1929] (2 copies), 57, 62, 63 (2 copies), 64, 70, 72, 76, 83, 84, 85, 88, 90, 96, 97, 143, 147, 149 to 173, 175 to 197, 200, 201 [1982]. This academy was closed, aristocratic and elitist. Its activities consisted of getting together to share high-class meals. At the end of the meal, one of the titular members would make a speech introducing a new inductee, who would then give his "thanks" to all the guests.
The menu for the 72nd dinner [19 December 1933] is in in-8 format and is annotated by Curnonsky "Club très fermé / aristodiplomatique / Les membres élus prononcent un discours...". Enclosed is a handwritten facsimile of Curnonsky's 1942 article, "Ma Tunique de Nessus".
Attached are Henri Murtin's speech on the occasion of his reception at the Académie des Psychologues du Goût on 2 May 1963 (Essay on Chinese cuisine), and the Menu of the Académie des Gastronomes for lunch on Friday 26 February 1937.
