Description
1987 SBARRO SPATULE
Châssis n° 001
Ancien passeport FIA, expiré
• Prototype conçu par Franco Sbarro à Grandson
• Historique lié à Gérard Pillon et Patrick Lesur
• Moteur V8 Chevrolet Small Block
1968 SBARRO ‘SPATULE’
Chassis no. 001
Historic FIA passport, now expired
• Prototype designed by Franco Sbarro at Grandson
• History associated with Gérard Pillon and Patrick Lesur
• Chevrolet Small Block V8
• In the current collection since 2001
Built during the early years of Franco Sbarro’s independent ACA workshop at Grandson, the ‘Spatule’ takes its nickname from its low, flat nose. This prototype reflects its creator’s work on V8-powered competition cars.
Chassis no. 001 combines a tubular structure with a Chevrolet Small Block V8, an engine type recorded in its history since at least 1990. Its sporting record includes an appearance by Gérard Pillon at the Casablanca Grand Prix, followed by hill-climb outings with Franco Sbarro.
The car later passed to Patrick Lesur, received an FIA passport in 1990 and appeared at the Coupes de l’Âge d’Or in 1995. It joined the current collection in 2001 in its present configuration.
Its historic FIA passport, now expired, accompanies the car. Any return to the track will require inspection of its condition and equipment, together with a review of the documents required for the chosen event.
This Sbarro will appeal to a collector interested in independent constructors and prototype history, with the prospect of sharing a creation from the early years of the Grandson workshop.
