Bürgi Auction House is delighted to present a highly diverse sale, bringing together several collections from distinctly different worlds, offering art lovers and collectors an eclectic selection of pieces spanning several centuries and artistic movements.
Asian Art and Curiosities
The sale opens with a fine collection of Chinese cloisonné enamels (vases, boxes, snuff boxes, thimbles) as well as a remarkable section of Khmer and Buddhist art: Khmer-style bronze sabre hilts, bronze and lacquer Buddhas, elements of a portable altar in the Bayon style (Cambodia, 13th century) and archaeological jewellery.
Fashion and accessories
A collection of signed Hermès silk twill scarves (by Ledoux and Clerc) sits alongside an antique purse embroidered with gold thread and various jewellery and display accessories.
Wine cellar
A fine selection of Bordeaux grands crus, including a 1992 Château Cheval Blanc (1er Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Émilion) and a substantial collection of 52 bottles of 2010 Château Haut-Marbuzet (Saint-Estèphe).
Street art and contemporary art
A section dedicated to street art brings together works by Meteor (stencils of Michael Jackson and Herbie Hancock), Jungle, Janula and other urban artists, alongside modern paintings by Comer, Morijean Ueki and Rachel Laurent.
Prints and antique paintings
Several high-quality graphic works, including a signed lithograph by Yves Brayer (1907–1990), an antique engraving of the Porte Saint-Denis in Paris, and Expressionist-style compositions evoking Jewish life in Eastern Europe.
Furniture and objets d’art from the 18th to the 20th century
The highlight of the sale is undoubtedly the antique furniture: a rare bookcase by Jacques Adnet (circa 1950), an 18th-century lacquered writing desk imitating Far Eastern lacquerware, an exceptional gilded bronze chandelier attributed to André-Charles Boulle (c. 1720), a set of late Empire-style chairs and a sofa in mahogany and gilded wood, as well as an Empire chaise longue of English workmanship. 20th-century furniture is not to be outdone, featuring a set of ‘Mr. Impossible’ chairs by Philippe Starck for Kartell, and a set of Chiavarine chairs in gilded metal.
