Through Mr X’s collection, more than 150 years of French history, as told through military equipment, unfolds before us.
Unlike many collections, this one has not had to choose between comprehensiveness and the quality of the items: the weapons here are in fine condition, with many rare models, and a commitment to showcasing the different versions of a single model.
Whether long or short weapons; for infantry, cavalry, fortifications, artillery or the navy, the weapons will be presented here by category, in keeping with the collection’s original layout.
‘France was forged by the sword,’ as General de Gaulle once said; Mr X’s collection will help to confirm that it was also forged by the rifle and the pistol.
‘Begun in August 1972, my collection is now the fruit of 36 years of research and thousands of kilometres travelled. I dedicate it to my family, who have allowed me to fully indulge my passion for artefacts from the past, which have shaped the history of France from the reign of Louis XIV to the end of the Second Empire.”

Purchase orders will only be accepted up until 4.00 pm on the day before the sale.
Due to a move, lots must be collected by 1 November 2026 at the latest.
Only payment made by the successful bidder will be accepted. Any payment made by a third party will be refused.
No changes to surnames or first names, nor any transfers to a third party, will be made on the sales slip after the auction.

Payment by bank transfer, credit card (in person only for lots totalling €2,000 or less; no remote credit card payments), or cash (for lots with a total value of less than €1,000, including fees only)
Payment must be made by the bidder; any payment by a third party will be refused.
If you are bidding on behalf of a company, you must be its legal representative or hold a power of attorney from the legal representative, and you must provide us with the relevant documents no later than the day of the sale (KBIS certificate less than 3 months old or draft articles of association for a company in the process of being formed, proof of identity of the managing director and proof of identity of the authorised representative)
In the event of late collection, storage charges of €5 per day per lot may be invoiced from the 15th day following the sale. All lots must be collected by 1 November due to relocation.
