We are proud to present the Fine Ancient Jewellery & Beads - The Prince Collection sale, held on the 3rd of October 2026 at 1PM (BST) located at the Apollo Art Auctions Showroom, 63-64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW. Bidding is available in-room and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform as well as Invaluable, The Saleroom, LiveAuctioneers and Interencheres. The auction presents a distinguished assembly of ancient jewellery, including many pieces in wearable condition and a fine selection of engraved gemstones. Spanning from the prehistoric and early Bronze Age periods (c. 4000 BC) through to the Late Antique era (c. AD 600), encompassing prehistoric and pre-dynastic, Egyptian, Near Eastern (including the Neo-Assyrian Period), Greek, Hellenistic, Roman and early Byzantine cultures. Among the more significant provenances, lots come from Derek Content, Peter Szuhay, Hans Calmann (1899-1982), the F. Piket collection, Alexander Cotton (d. 2021) and Alan Kotllar. Highlights of the sale include Lot 512, an Egyptian gold snake ring with garnet cabochon; Lot 544, a massive Roman imperial openwork gold ring with agate gem; Lot 608, a stunning Castellani inspired Italian gold necklace with twenty-three Roman intaglios; Lot 610, a Georgian gold and black enamel memento mori ring; and Lot 611, a rare Etruscan carnelian scarab of kneeling Ajax with inscribed name in an Italian neoclassical gold pendant from a Naples workshop. Selected lots are accompanied by additional reports from Lisa Sartini, Egyptologist PhD of Chimera Heritage Consultants, and Alessandro Neri, an international cultural heritage expert based in Florence, as well as Art Loss Register confirmation letters. A selection of jewellery in the sale was also authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery, with a number of objects subsequently published in a professional catalogue.
